So we meet again, little
snarklings.
As promised, this week,
I’ll be diving into Gothic tunes. As I stated before, this is a part of
a four week-long series in where I am diving into Gothic films, tunes, books
and live shows.
Lindsey Sterling
Also known as the hip
hop violinist, the Mormon raised girl took a traditional interment and uses it
to make modern music.
I love her music. It’s
breathtaking gorgeous and traditional, yet modern at the same time. She had a
certain edge that I love in any kind of music. And plus I’m a huge fan of
Phantom of the Opera. Just tossing that out there…
Avril Lavinge
Her music is young and
punky. Just the way I like it.
She is also one of the
few exceptions that I make towards rock. I love her badass music and style. She
is an amazing songwriter and singer. Need I say more?
Anna Blue
So Lonely
Love her Emo styled
music, which seems to capture my lonely heart. She also sings this song in
German and French, which is impressive.
I love her unique style
of music and how she manages to capture the lonely human heart in her songs.
His music isn’t really
my cup of tea, but I thought it to be worthwhile to post him on my blog.
As I stated before, I
don’t really have much of an ear when it comes to rock music. But he is
supposed to be the king of the Gothic subculture, so I felt as though I should
at least nod my head to him.
Nightwish
The perfect blend of
classical and rock, which is just right for my highly trained ears to handle.
Now you may be thinking,
classical? But this band is made up
of what is called symphonic
metal, which is just a mixture of several styles of music, with metal and
classical being the most popular.
Rhapsody of Fire
Once again, I can listen
to their music without feeling like I’m at a Justin Bieber concert.
Love the full symphonic
orchestra included in their
music and the amazing vocals.
Within Temptation
Again, a beautifully angelic
lead singer who could’ve fallen from heaven merging her voice with hard metal
music. Me likey.
My only comment on this
video: Justice is served.
Until we meet again. In
next week’s post, I shall be going over the history of the pentagram.
